Tourists love hiking in the Bieszczady Mountains. Interestingly, there was no better time to have a hike than in the spring and autumn this year.

Estimates from 19 recording waypoints, counting the number of tourists, show that, between 10th April to 12th November 2018, there were 589.2 thousand people. It is almost 60 thousand more hikers, comparing to the corresponding season in 2017, during which the Bieszczady Mountains were visited by 513.3 thousand tourists.

Seasonality patterns in tourism were shaped differently as well. The seasonal frequency in the summer in 2017 reached over 52%, whereas this year (2018), it reached only 42%. That brings us to the overall number of tourists entering the park this summer, that totalled 251 thousand visitors (and in comparison with 2017, it decreased by 12 thousand of them). On the contrary, May and October brought very high frequency and reached 79.8thousand and 77.8 thousand of them respectively. Over 116 thousand hikers chose the trail leading from the Wyżna Pass to Połonina Wetlińska and over 95 thousand of them had a walk from the village of Wołosate to Mt. Tarnica. – we can read on the official website of the Bieszczadzki National Park.

And what about tourist decisions regarding hiking this winter? We will see soon.
