These alpine and subalpine meadows distinguish the Bieszczady Mountains from any other landforms in Poland.
This paradise for hikers offers numerous hiking trails, from long-distance footpaths to shorter ones, which differ from each other in terms of the level of difficulty; each of which is marked with paint by corresponding colour. The most popular and scenic trails lead up to the peak of Mt Tarnica, blazed with blue paint markings, and to Połonina Wetlińska, blazed with yellow paint markings and starting at the Wyżna Pass. Mt. Tarnica is the highest peak in the Polish Bieszczady Mountains. Its height is 1,346 metres above main sea level and is one of the Polish Crown Peaks, numbering 28 highest peaks in Poland. [5]The mountain’s summit is covered with a stone run and is marked with an 8.5 metres long steel cross, commemorating Karol Wojtyła’s visit to this place in 1953 (many years before the priest was elected Pope John Paul II). A geodetic point can be also found at the summit. The peak of Mt Tarnica is one of the most amazing viewpoints in the Bieszczady Mountains and is definitely a sight to behold. .

Połonina Wetlińska (1,255 metres above main sea level) is a mountain massif in the Western Bieszczady Mountains. It is a unique place due to temperature inversion Połonina Wetlińska is a perfect viewpoint – in winter, Połonina Wetlińska offers otherworldly views of the remote, 200 km away or so, Tatry peaks rising high above the billows of clouds. It features a legendary mountain hostel, currently run by the Bieszczadzki National Park. The building used to be a military observatory point. After some time, it was refurbished to make it a hostel providing basic accommodation for hikers and was named Chatka Puchatka(English: ‘the House at Pooh Corner’). Although it was officially renamed to ‘Schron Turystyczny BdPN’ (English: the BdPN Tourist Shelter) in 2015, the former name has been still widely used. The hostel is the highest-altitude shelter in the Bieszczady Mountains.
